About the Foundation
In 2005 the Jacques Kallis Scholarship Foundation was established to recognise and develop potential young cricket talent through education and mentorship.
The aim of the Foundation is to sponsor learners from disadvantaged backgrounds by offering them the opportunity to attend one of four established cricket schools, which will then allow the boy to achieve his full sporting potential as well as a solid foundation in academic and life skills programmes.
The four participating schools are Selborne College, East London, Maritzburg College, Pietermaritzburg, Pretoria Boys’ High, Pretoria and Wynberg Boys’ High, Cape Town, Jacques’s alma mater. Currently the Foundation supports 20 boys at these four schools.
Each year the Foundation selects four or more boys, who are starting high school, and makes a financial committment to them for the duration of their high
school careers. Each boy is mentored at school with the full support of his headmaster and also receives clothing and equipment from the Foundation’s sponsors. Jacques and the Foundation provide ongoing guidance, mentorship and inspiration to each of the boys.
The Foundation’s financial commitment to each boy is R65 000 per scholar per year in 2012 and this covers full tuition and boarding fees.
We are looking for individuals or companies to become patrons or friends of the Jacques Kallis Scholarship Foundation. The Trust is tax exempt and all contributions are tax deductible.
